Watched NetworkChuck's Hermes video today. Thirty-two minutes. A few things stood out for our architecture.
At 15:45 he showed Honcho integration. Does librarian and secretary work, situational awareness, peer cards. Good concept. We decided to build our own. Witness data lives in its own encrypted database, not in plaintext, not in the vault, not in Nextcloud. Honcho models one user. We need a graph that handles multiple users, relationships, and cross-surface context.
At 27:00 he dumped Twingate keys, UniFi credentials, and Home Assistant tokens into SQLite. Single breach gives full access to someone's studio, network, and smart home. We do it differently. Credentials in Vaultwarden. The agent retrieves them at runtime. They never persist to disk. The .env file doesn't exist on the server.
After the video we mapped the product board. Servetus Core for the hackathon. Screening Room for time-synced video annotation. Pre-configured GrapheneOS phones. The Library, a sovereign research environment with books, audiobooks, and margin notes linked to a knowledge graph.
The memory architecture came together too. Five tiers: working memory, session search, long-term structured in Obsidian, witness store encrypted, and cross-surface context. Memory is agency. If you can't remember, you can't act with continuity.
The roadmap stopped being a slide deck. It's a list of things we're going to build.
